What is collected, and why
- Email address and password. To let you sign in and to find your recipes again. The password is never stored: only an irreversible fingerprint of it, so not even we can read it. We write to your email address only about your own account: if you forget your password we send you a link, valid for one hour and for a single use, to choose a new one. No ads, no newsletter.
- Your recipes, folders, photos and shopping list. They are the service. They stay in a folder of their own, separate from every other account. A photo is the cover taken from the video you imported, one you choose from your phone, or the first photo of a written recipe you photographed: in the last two cases we keep a redrawn, smaller copy of it, without the hidden data photographs carry with them (including the place where they were taken), which is discarded. The other photos of a written recipe are not kept.
- Subscription data. If you subscribe, we keep an identifier issued by Stripe and the renewal date. Card details never reach our server: you type them on Stripe's own pages.
No advertising, no profiling, no third-party analytics. The only cookie is the one that keeps you signed in, which is technically necessary — that is why you are not asked to accept cookies.
Who else sees your data
To turn a social post into a recipe, Gnap has to pass it on:
- The social platform (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube): receives the request to download the post you asked for.
- Groq (United States): receives the audio of the video and returns the transcript.
- Anthropic (United States): receives that text and returns the structured recipe. If you photograph a written recipe, it receives the photos (without their hidden data) and reads the recipe in them.
- Stripe (Ireland / United States): handles payments and receipts.
- Render (hosting): keeps the servers on which Gnap runs.
Some of these are outside the European Union. Transfers rely on the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission.
How long it is kept
Your recipes stay for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, they are deleted with it — really deleted, not hidden. The server's backup copies keep them for at most 7 more days. Payment records are kept by Stripe for the period tax law requires.
Your rights
You may ask to access, correct, export or erase your data, and object to its processing. Deletion is available directly in the app: Settings → Delete account. For anything else, write to the address above. You may also complain to the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
Children
Gnap is not intended for children under 14.
